A review… of the Dictionary

It’s me, procrastinating again and avoiding revision! But this time, I’m going to do something a little different. I’m going to review a book that I’ve only read a few words of!
This totally counts as revising for English.

Er… It has words and definitions in a big big book.

“Look it up in the dictionary”
Did this ever frustrate anyone else? In primary school when you didn’t know how to spell a word the teachers were always too lazy to tell you how to spell it so they were always like: “Go look it up in a dictionary.”
Does anyone else understand my pain…?

It was just so awesome and fast paced! It literally consisted of one word sentences that really sped the pace up. It has given me a lot of inspiration for my English Language creative writing paper. 😛

The Imagination
Usually when there is a lack of a plot I get frustrated, but this time I didn’t! I really enjoyed it! I could literally imagine anything I wanted. For example: “zodiac, zombie, zone, zoo”. This could be: “recently there has been a new zodiac constellation; the zombie. The zombie is held in the zone in space called the zoo, because there are so many other inhabitants there”, and at the same time it could also be “The zodiac’s animals tried to eat the zombie but the zombie went to it’s own zone and ate all the other animals in the zoo”.
It’s just so fun. You should try it!

Such a good writing style
The author just has such a wide range of vocabulary and often I couldn’t understand what they meant, but I guess that”s good because then I can broaden my vocabulary.

Favourite Quotes

  • “Gullible: easily taken in for tricked.” and that’s to the people who tried to make me gullible and who said “Gullible is not  in the dictionary; WHEN IT ACTUALLY IS!”
  • “Samoosa: a small spiced meat pasty.”
  • “Zymurgy: the branch of chemistry concerned with fermentation processes in brewing, etc.” (The last word)

So yeah, of course I read this book. And it is amazing. I don’t know if it is actually fair to rate this since I didn’t actually read this, so you can just imagine a rating. 😛
It was fun procrastinating!

I just love the fact that out of all the things you could’ve done to procrastinate, you chose to read the dictionary. THE FREAKING DICTIONARY. Ultimate respect right there. 😉

    • It was amazing and very rewarding. 😛
I aced my English exam (aka failed, because I just ranted on about trees and global warming and being a tree hugger etc.) and now there is no way I can convince you that it was actually Weishi who wrote that…

  2. And of course Yanni’s grammar is, again, atrocious. Don’t worry, I’ll go fix it.
